In a bizarre crossover event that challenges conventional predictions, the game developer has announced an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "A strange meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of banned rituals and monstrous changes echo through the darkness." The plot features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a secret cult.
The mission centers on "strange trials and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Transformations
The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an exclusive katana together with several objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
